Senior Tax Accountant

Responsibilities Include:

  • Supervise client tax engagements, including engagement planning, directing and completion of assigned tax projects
  • Supervise, mentor and train tax associates on assigned tax projects
  • Review client tax returns and make necessary recommendations regarding accuracy and pertinent tax savings opportunities
  • Prepare client tax returns for more complex individual, trust, corporate, partnership and S Corporation tax clients
  • Respond to inquiries from the IRS and other tax authorities in a timely manner
  • Generate and edit memoranda, correspondence and other client deliverables as necessary
  • Research and consult with management on client-related tax matters
  • Participate in business development and networking events on behalf of the firm
  • Perform other duties assigned or required


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 5-10 years public accounting experience
  • CPA preferred
  • Previous tax preparation experience required
  • Capable of leading client tax projects and supervising other tax staff
  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Strong computer software skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Prosystem Engagement, CCH Axcess and RIA Checkpoint

Accounting/Bookkeeping Professional


  • Work with our clients to provide full range of bookkeeping services and ensure the accuracy of financial records
  • Assist clients in implementing proper procedures and processes to enhance job cost reporting systems
  • Train clients in QuickBooks and other vertical market construction software
  • Participate in all aspects of our clients’ accounting, including A/R, A/P, general ledger, reconciliations, sales tax, credit and collection, commission and payroll
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports including profit and loss statements, balance sheets and statements of cash flow
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly closings and prepare documentation needed to submit accurate tax payments
  • Prepare federal and state individual tax returns under supervision of a manager
  • Travel to various clients in the MD/VA area


  • Knowledge of US GAAP and Financial Accounting Standards
  • Must have experience working with computerized accounting systems, such as QuickBooks
  • Construction accounting software knowledge a plus
  • BS in Finance or Accounting a plus
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Effective, professional verbal and written communication with colleagues and clients
  • Detail-oriented
